Blood sample collection options
Finger prick kit (FREE)
All our kits require a finger prick blood sample which is quick and easy to do at home. But if you don't like the idea of squeezing blood out of your finger, here are some other options:
A home visit by a nurse (+£60)
Have a nurse visit you at home to take your blood sample from your vein. The kit will come with everything the nurse needs to do the blood sample collection. Once you've placed your order, we'll be in touch to arrange an appointment.
Visit a clinic (+£45)
You can visit one of our partner clinics to have a nurse take a blood sample from your vein. Select this option at checkout where you can also see which clinics are near you. Once you've placed your order, we'll send you an email to arrange your appointment.
Organise a nurse myself (FREE)
If none of the above options work for you, you can arrange your own medical professional to collect your sample. There is no additional charge for this. Once you've ordered your test, we'll send you everything you and your chosen medical professional will need to collect a sample and post it back to our labs.
You can choose your blood sample collection method in the checkout. Learn more about sample collection.
When to take the test
We recommend you collect your blood sample within 3 hours of waking up and before any strenuous exercise.
Benefits of Blood Testing for Cyclists
Improving Performance
Unleash the true potential of your cycling performance with biomarker testing. Our comprehensive blood test for male cyclists measures key indicators that influence your endurance, strength, and recovery. Gain insights into your body's unique responses to training, nutrition, and stress, allowing you to optimise your training.
Recovery and Avoiding Injury
Prevent overtraining, the silent saboteur of cycling performance, by understanding your cortisol levels. Cortisol, a stress hormone, can slow recovery and increase the risk of injuries. Our test provides insights into cortisol levels, enabling you to tailor your training schedule and optimise your body's ability to adapt. 75% of Edge customers improved their cortisol levels after their first test.
Fine-tune Your Nutrition
Our test evaluates essential nutrient levels, including iron, B12 and vitamin D, ensuring you're adequately replenishing your body. With this information, you can refine your diet to optimise energy production, prevent fatigue, and support muscle recovery.
Track Testosterone
This test measures your total testosterone, a key hormone that impacts muscle strength, endurance, and recovery. Understanding your hormonal profile empowers you to make informed decisions about training intensity, nutrition, and recovery strategies to maximise your cycling potential and avoid overtraining.
Longevity and Cycling Health
Optimise your cycling performance and overall health with a deeper understanding of your body's biomarkers. Our cycling blood test evaluates inflammation and stress, providing insights into your body's resilience and potential for longevity. You’ll be able to address any imbalances or deficiencies early on to promote long-term cycling success and overall well-being.
Make Data-Driven Decisions
You might already track data as part of your training, from average speed and cadence to bike weight and heart rate, so why not keep track of what’s going on inside? Our cycling blood test for men provides actionable insights into your biomarker profile, empowering you to make informed decisions about training, nutrition, and recovery.
