Blood sample collection options
Finger prick kit (FREE)
All our kits require a finger prick blood sample which is quick and easy to do at home. But if you don't like the idea of squeezing blood out of your finger, here are some other options:
A home visit by a nurse (+£60)
Have a nurse visit you at home to take your blood sample from your vein. The kit will come with everything the nurse needs to do the blood sample collection. Once you've placed your order, we'll be in touch to arrange an appointment.
Visit a clinic (+£45)
You can visit one of our partner clinics to have a nurse take a blood sample from your vein. Select this option at checkout where you can also see which clinics are near you. Once you've placed your order, we'll send you an email to arrange your appointment.
Organise a nurse myself (FREE)
If none of the above options work for you, you can arrange your own medical professional to collect your sample. There is no additional charge for this. Once you've ordered your test, we'll send you everything you and your chosen medical professional will need to collect a sample and post it back to our labs.
You can choose your blood sample collection method in the checkout. Learn more about sample collection.
When to take the test
If you’re having a regular period, collect your sample on day 3 of your menstrual cycle (day 1 being the first day of your period), otherwise take the test at any time. Collect your blood sample within 3 hours of waking.
IMPORTANT: To avoid contamination, use a different hand than the one you applied hormone gel/cream with for your blood sample.
Benefits of Blood Testing for Weightlifters
Take Your Weightlifting to the Next Level
To reach your full potential, it's crucial to understand the intricate interplay between your training, nutrition, and hormones. Our home blood test provides you with comprehensive data insights into your body's unique needs, helping you to optimise your performance, maximise recovery, and achieve your weightlifting goals.
Fuel Your Performance
Unlock your full potential by identifying any nutritional deficiencies that may be hindering your progress. Our blood test measures essential nutrients like iron, vitamin D, and B12, providing valuable insights you can use to tailor your diet and fuel your training with the right fuel.
Minimise Overtraining and Optimise Recovery
Overtraining is the nemesis of any weightlifter. Our blood test assesses your stress markers and hormone levels, such as oestradiol, alerting you to potential overtraining imbalances that can impair recovery and hinder your progress. With these insights, you can implement strategic rest periods and recovery practices to ensure optimal performance and injury prevention.
Monitor Muscle Response and Adapt Your Training
Understand how your muscles are responding to your training. Our blood test assesses internal muscle catabolism, indicating the balance between muscle damage and recovery. This information empowers you to adjust your training intensity and volume to get the most muscle growth and performance possible.
Protect Your Bones for Long-Term Performance
A healthy bone density is essential for weightlifters, reducing the risk of injuries. Our blood test measures bone health indicators, providing insights into how your diet and training are impacting your bone health and allowing you to make informed dietary adjustments to support your long-term weightlifting goals.
Track Your Progress
Our blood test doesn't just provide a snapshot of your current health; it allows you to monitor your progress over time. By tracking your biomarker levels consistently, you can identify patterns, make informed adjustments to your training, nutrition, and recovery strategies, and ensure sustained progress towards your weightlifting goals.
