Blood sample collection options
Finger prick kit (FREE)
All our kits require a finger prick blood sample which is quick and easy to do at home. But if you don't like the idea of squeezing blood out of your finger, here are some other options:
A home visit by a nurse (+£60)
Have a nurse visit you at home to take your blood sample from your vein. The kit will come with everything the nurse needs to do the blood sample collection. Once you've placed your order, we'll be in touch to arrange an appointment.
Visit a clinic (+£45)
You can visit one of our partner clinics to have a nurse take a blood sample from your vein. Select this option at checkout where you can also see which clinics are near you. Once you've placed your order, we'll send you an email to arrange your appointment.
Organise a nurse myself (FREE)
If none of the above options work for you, you can arrange your own medical professional to collect your sample. There is no additional charge for this. Once you've ordered your test, we'll send you everything you and your chosen medical professional will need to collect a sample and post it back to our labs.
You can choose your blood sample collection method in the checkout. Learn more about sample collection.
When to take the test
We recommend you collect your blood sample within 3 hours of waking up and before any strenuous exercise.
Benefits of Blood Testing for Runners
Unlock Enhanced Recovery
The Male Runner blood test delves into key biomarkers that influence your recovery capacity, enabling you to identify and address potential roadblocks that slow your progress. By understanding your cortisol levels, as well as inflammation, you can tailor your training schedule to maximise recovery and prevent overtraining, allowing your body to adapt and excel without compromising your health.
Fine-tune Your Nutrition
Nutrition plays an important role in fuelling your runs and supporting your overall well-being. This blood test evaluates essential nutrient levels, including vitamin B12 and iron, to ensure you're adequately replenishing what your body needs to perform at its best. With this information, you can refine your diet to maximise energy production and reduce the risk of fatigue and injuries.
Harness Your Hormones
Male hormones, particularly testosterone, play a critical role in shaping running performance in men. Testosterone is responsible for muscle development, strength, endurance and recovery, all of which contribute to your running performance.
Empower Yourself with Data
In the world of running, data is your ally. Our Male Runner blood test empowers you to make informed decisions that align with your specific needs and goals. By understanding how your body responds to training, nutrition, and recovery, you can take ownership of your performance and achieve the running success you've been striving for.
